Flexible Video Conferencing
The Panasonic HD Visual Communications System is a new visual communication tool that is clearly different from previous video conference systems. High image quality, high sound quality, and a stable connection have been achieved both with intranets and the Internet, enabling easy, comfortable communication between remote locations.
The technologies that Panasonic has accumulated from its AV devices serve as the core of this system.
EASE OF USE
MULTIPLE SITE CONNECTION
The KX-VC1600 lets you hold a multi-site videoconference with people at up to 10 sites*1 without requiring the purchase of expensive MCUs (Multi-point Connection Units). When combined with Panasonic’s NAT Traversal Service or HD Visual Communication Mobile (HDVC Mobile) software that enables the use of mobile devices for participating in a videoconference, you can have effective visual communication without restrictions on time or place.
The HDVC System lets you hold a multi-site videoconference at virtually any site you choose. Even if the locations of the multi-site videoconferences change each time, the videoconference can be held using only the equipment at the participating sites. The HDVC System allows flexible holding of videoconferences.
* Except for KX-VC300
The KX-VC1600 and KX-VC1300 comply with the H.261, H.263 and H.264 international video compression standards. Therefore, they can connect to older product models manufactured by different companies as long as they comply with those standards. This allows phased system expansion while using existing videoconference equipment.
* KX-VC300 comply with the H.264.
Because the HDVC System can connect via intranet/VPN and Internet simultaneously, it is easy to configure a videoconference system connected to sites inside and outside your company. The HDVC System can be used to hold videoconferences with clients without a large investment in equipment.
* Supported only by the KX-VC1600.
You can join a videoconference from a location outside of the office, while you are on the go, or from your own home using a Windows/iOS/Android™ mobile device. The HDVC System provides effective visual communication without restrictions on time or place.

*1 Connection to the KX-VC1600 or KX-VC1300 from Windows PCs and Android™ devices is scheduled to be supported from December 2014.
* Option is required to use the software.
OPTIMUM SCREEN LAYOUT
The HDVC System comes with a function that lets you choose a screen layout from a variety of options. For instance, you can select a screen layout to show all participating sites or to display the site with a high voice level in a large window (Window 1 in the layouts shown below). The most suitable screen layout can be selected according to the type of video conference held.
The screen layout changes automatically according to the number of connection sites.
* Positions of windows displaying sites are determined by the connecting order.
OTHER SCREEN LAYOUT FUNCTIONS
Display of a selected site (home location, distant location) at the upper left corner (Priority 1 position) (Site Selection)
Display of the master location at Priority 1 position and display of the site with the highest sound level at Priority 2 position (Voice Activated Changeover 2)
IMAGE QUALITY
HIGH IMAGE QUALITY
Panasonic’s unique high-quality image technology, which was accumulated with its VIERA and DIGA products, help to create a powerful realism, making it seem like everyone is in the same room. The digital home electronics platform Uniphier® system LSI also makes it possible to display facial expressions and gestures in clear, full-HD images as part of the visual communication experience.
* Uniphier® is a registered trademark of Panasonic Corporation.
HIGH SOUND QUALITY
Natural 2-way conversations are achieved thanks to a unique echo canceller. It reduces echo and howling, and enables a lifelike sound quality without interruptions even when two people speak at the same time. Broadband stereo achieves clear and expansive sounds. In addition, a boundary microphone (sold separately) with a direction recognition function, indicates the direction of the speaker’s voice and position to the listeners. This creates a natural conversation that makes it feel like everyone is in the same room even when they are in remote locations, and relieves fatigue when talking for long periods of time.
ORIGINAL PANASONIC AV-QOS
The HD Visual Communications System is packed with Panasonic technology for connection stability. A rate control function accurately estimates network congestion, and controls the data transfer amount to reduce packet loss. In addition, the combined usage of Forward Error Correction (FEC) and Automatic Repeat reQuest (ARQ) helps to restore inevitable packet loss.
These functions make it possible to achieve a stable connection and prevent image disruptions and sound interruptions, both on intranets and on the Internet, where bandwidth is not guaranteed and the usable bandwidth constantly changes due to traffic conditions. The range of business opportunities naturally expands because of the ability to conduct visual communication with clients and customers outside the company.
LOW BANDWIDTH COMMUNICATION SUPPORTED
The HD Video Conferencing Unit enables communication at low bandwidths by adjusting to the network status. Video and audio communication at 256 kbps/site minimum, and audio-only communication at 192 kbps/site minimum are possible.*
* For 2-site communication. Actual communication varies depending on the network status and settings.
* The optional Activation Key Card lets you upgrade the maximum resolution of the KX-VC300 system to 1080p/i.
WIRELESS COMMUNICATION
Connection is possible with a wireless router (Wi-Fi®, WiMAX), so the HD Visual Communications Unit can be taken to wherever the user is. This also keeps the wiring at the videoconference site simple. Wireless support AV-QoS ensures a stable connection even during wireless connection. This expands the areas of use to include videoconferences in places other than meeting rooms like factories and showrooms that are not equipped with LAN cables.
